HELSINKI BURLESQUE

Helsinki Burlesque is an independent organisation run by me, Bettie
Blackheart and my husband EpeDog aka Frank Doggenstein. We are proud to say
that were the first ones to bring  international burlesque into Finland. We
do our best to keep the artform and it’s traditions alive ,well and
creative. Our goal is to present a wide variety of contemporary burlesque
for the finnish audience.  Our main event of the year is the Annual Helsinki
Burlesque Festival, with the 5th one coming up in 2012.
Since located so far away from many burlesque capitals of the world, we knew from the
beginning that we cannot compete with the quantity of the performers, but,
the quality. We have had the honour to work with fabulous
talents like, Satan’s Angel, World Famous *BOB*, Kitten on the Keys, Cherry Typhoon, Miss Indigo Blue, Trixie Little and The Evil Hate Monkey, Princess Farhana, Alotta Boutté, Mimi Le Meaux,  Little Brooklyn, Scotty the
Blue Bunny, Miss Eva Von Slut, Major Suttle-Tease, Diamond Daggers, The Amazing Knicker Kittens Burlesque Revue, Fancy Chance, Sugar Kane,  among many other  international visitors from around the world.

We have a lot  of amazing performers in Finland . Some of us work also internationally, like LouLou D´Vil, The Itty-Bitty tease Cabaret, Holy Curves and our own toupe Hula Pirates Cabaree including, Kiki Hawaiji, Frank Doggenstein, Bent Van Der Bleu and myself. We have a
growing boylesque scene and since we organize New Comer’s Night every year,
we have the opportunity to meet  almost all the new talent in the country.

It started out in 2007 when Bettie Blackheart, Kiki Hawaiji and Frank
Doggenstein desided to bring Burlesque into Helsinki / Finland.
Since then we have organised burlesque parties of all sizes, from  a small
graduation party to big festivals.
Kiki Hawaiji together with her significant other Miroslove Satan is now in
charge of Turku Burlesque in the city of Turku, her hometown, and Bettie and
Frank continue to run Helsinki Burlesque.

Since 2007 a lot has happened in the finnish scene, now many cities
have events and parties.  Burlesque in
Finland is certainly alive and kicking. We hope we can continue our work
within this unbelievable creative community and for our part keep the spirit
alive.
